"I breathe ... Klimastollen Prettau", the name says it all. In the Prettau climate gallery, a comfortably developed area in the abandoned Prettau mine, we find very special air-hygienic conditions which can bring relief to people with respiratory diseases such as bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, pollen allergies, sinusitis etc.. Prettau show mine

In 1996, the lowest gallery of the copper mine in Prettau was made accessible as a show mine.  If you want to experience excitement and history, immerse yourself in the fascination of the man-made underworld

Equipped with a helmet and rain jacket, you are taken on board the small mine train approx. 1 km into the tunnel. This is where the 350 m long tour begins, on which expert guides explain the processes of the difficult and dangerous work of the miners. Figures - which resemble lifelike miners - illustrate the various work processes. Branching tunnels and shafts leading into the depths give a good impression of the difficult working conditions underground

An alternative method of copper extraction can still be seen today in one of the installations, and this year's new combined ticket includes a guided tour of the show mine and admission to the Kornkasten/ Steinhaus Museum.

Mining museum in the Kornkasten/Steinhaus

The so-called Kornkasten in Steinhaus used to be the food store for the Ahrntal mining operations. Even today, the reddish color of the building's façade is reminiscent of copper mining! Today, the Kornkasten is an ideal complement to a visit to the show mine in Prettau and, in addition to the history of Ahrntal copper mining, also tells a lot about the living conditions, customs, special privileges, etc. of the miners of that time. new this year: the combined ticket for the mining museum in the Kornkasten and the Prettau show mine! In August and on public holidays also open on Mondays!
